The dissertation examines risk of stakeholders related to installation and implementation of investment projects of renewable energy sources (RES), opportunities and methods to assess and mitigate the same risk, relying on a synthesis of qualitative and quantitative methods. Key subject of research is RES investment risk. Key purpose of the paper is to examine the investment risk assessment technique, adjusted in view to the RES and to verify its suitability through modelling of investment risk into Lithuanian RES by assessing its parameters.

The dissertation deals with the following key tasks: to reveal preconditions and reasons for development of RES, accounting for the value of investment into value created by RES as well as sources of risk for the stakeholders; to examine the concepts of risk and uncertainties and their interconnection, leading to a range of different levels of uncertainties and to analyse features of risk analysis methods applied when assessing investment risk; by relying on a synthesis of qualitative and quantitative research methods, to develop an investment risk assessment methodology, adjusted to the specifics of RES projects; to verify the features of investment risk assessment technique and its validity, when forming a model for risk assessment of investment into Lithuanian RES and by assessing its parameters.

The dissertation includes an introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, list of literature, list of publications by the author on the topic of dissertation and annexes. The introduction reveals the relevance of the issue, presents the purpose and tasks of the paper, and outlines scientific and practical novelty of the paper. Chapter one of the dissertation presents an extensive analysis of methodological material concerning investment risk and value created. The chapter further examines investment environment of RES projects and risk factors specific to RES projects. Chapter two of the dissertation examines methodological principles and methods of risk assessment, and special features of their application. It also provides a detailed analysis of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods, their synthesis and possible fields of application. Chapter three of the dissertation presents a complex assessment model of RES investment risk, based on multi-stage mixed structure of risk analysis. The dissertation closes with summary conclusions and recommendations.

There are five scientific publications on the topic of dissertation, including three published in reviewed scientific journals (one listed in Thomson ISI, and another in IndexCopernicus) and two published in international conferences (one listed in Springer Proceedings).
