The dissertation investigates the created new flux-cored wires for thermal arc spraying and the properties of coatings sprayed by them. The main object of research is the new materials created for thermal arc spraying and the Fe-Mn-Cr-Mo-Ni, Fe-Mn-Cr-Mo, Fe-Mn-Cr system alloy coatings sprayed on the basis of these materials. The application area of new flux-cored wires created for thermal arc spraying is restaurated or produced new parts which are used in various fields of industry and agriculture. This dissertation aims at choosing the optimal technological spraying process and thus getting the coatings with the best mechanical, physical, tribological and anticorrosive properties, suitable for real exploitation conditions. The paper approaches these main tasks: influence of molten flare particles on coatings‘ morphology, influence of chemical composition and technological parameters on mechanical properties of coatings, corrosive and friction resistance under various conditions. Changing of thermal arc spraying current allowed to identify influence of particles granulometry and coatings morphology on mechanical and tribological properties. The experimental methods of analysis applied in work allowed to evaluate the qualitative characteristics of coatings.

The dissertation consists of introduction, 3 chapters, general conclusions, references, list of scientific publications by the author on the topic of the dissertation, and 3 annexes. The introduction reveals the investigated problem, importance of the thesis, and the object of research, and describes the purpose and tasks of the paper, research methodology, scientific novelty, the practical significance of results examined in the paper and defended statements. The introduction ends in presenting the author’s publications on the subject of the defended dissertation, offering the material of made presentations in conferences and defining the structure of the dissertation. Chapter 1 revises used literature. It reviews the papers dealing with different spray techniques, the steel surface enhancement methods of substrate preparation prior to spraying, the properties of coatings and development of wire creation. At the end of the chapter, conclusions are drawn and the tasks for the dissertation are reconsidered. Chapter 2 presents the materials and equipment used in research, the methodology of material and their properties‘ analysis applied in this work. In Chapter 3 the size of collected flare particles, specific features of sprayed coatings microstructure, mechanical properties of coatings, the resistance of coatings to wet, dry and sliding friction and the results of analysis of corrosive resistance of coatings are presented and analysed.

The materials of the dissertation were published in 7 scientific articles and the results of the research were presented at 13 scientific conferences in Lithuania and aboard.
