The dissertation deals with the six phase voltage forming problem. The main aim of the dissertation is to develop a space vector modulation based voltage forming methods for driving a six phase AC induction motor symmetrical star topology connected stator windings with a single isolated neutral point.

The work approaches the following tasks: creation of mathematical model of a six phase inverter with symmetrical star topology load with single neutral point; development of new space vector modulation method-based voltage forming methods for six phase inverter; analysis of proposed voltage forming methods using simulation and  experiment; experimental investigation of a six phase variable speed AC induction motor drive based on the proposed voltage forming methods; investigation of ratio amplitude/frequency dependence on frequency, that corresponds to minimal consumed power of drive.

The dissertation consists of Introduction, 3 chapters, General conclusions, References, Summary in English and 2 Annexes.

The introduction reveals the investigated problem, topicality, object of research and describes the purpose and tasks of the dissertation, introduces the research methodology, scientific novelty, practical significance of results and presents the defended statements of dissertation. The introduction ends in presenting the author’s presentations in conferences and defining the structure of the dissertation.

Chapter 1 revises used literature. Structure of multiphase frequency converters is revised and voltage forming methods are analysed. At the end of the chapter, conclusions are drawn and the tasks for the dissertation are reconsidered.

Chapter 2 provides analytical solution of voltage forming problem for a six phase inverter with a symmetrical single isolated neutral load using space vector modulation. Three six phase voltage forming methods using different combinations of space vectors are proposed and investigated by means of simulation.

In chapter 3, experimental investigation of a developed six phase voltage forming methods is carried out using specially designed six phase frequency converter and six phase AC induction motor.

6 articles focusing on the subject of the dissertation are published, including three articles in the Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge register. 7 presentations on the subject have been given in conferences at national and international level.  The dissertation research is related to project „Go-Smart“ Nr. VP1-3.1-ŠMM-08-K-01-015 of National Complex Program „Mechatronics“.
