The following key objectives are addressed in the doctoral thesis: having analyzed the respective scientific literature the aim is to identify the determi-nants of investment in the context of the development of investment theories, peculiarities of family farms‘ investment in agricultural machinery, the impact of support on these investments and their trends in the post-industrial economy, to develop a model that could ensure investment decisions leading to the growth of the efficiency of investment in agricultural machinery and create precondi-tions for more efficient activity of family farms, to evaluate the impact of in-vestment implemented in Lithuanian family farms on family farms efficiency, to empirically verify the adaptability of the developed model, and to make recom-mendations on application possibilities of the developed model and further fields of research.

The doctoral thesis consists of the introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, lists of literature and publications of the author on the topic of the doctoral thesis. The introduction defines the research problem, relevance, object, aim and objectives, research methodology, scientific novelty, practical value and statements to be defended. It also summarizes the publications and conference presentations of the author on the topic of the doctoral thesis.

The first chapter presents an overview of investment theories for identifying determinants of investment, reveals peculiarities of family farms‘ investment in agricultural machinery, analyzes the impact of support on these investments, and identifies their trends in the post-industrial economy.
