Description

The monograph introduces the research material and methodological proposals developed by a group of VGTU scientists during the period 2012–2014 in the framework of the project “Innovative regeneration methods of architectural heritage: Panemunė castles” sponsored by the Research Council of Lithuania. The project was dedicated to the problems of management and usability options of cultural heritage objects that represent brick architecture. In addition, it aimed to suggest effective up-to-date approaches to resolution of these problems. The researches of Panemunė Castle (also known as Vytėnai Castle or Gelgaudai Castle), Raudonė Castle and Raudondvaris Castle resulted in the development of methodological guidelines for different study areas. These guidelines can be used for the search of methods that would lead to exact estimation and rational regeneration of other cultural heritage objects attributed to brick architecture. The effectiveness of the interdisciplinary methodology presented in the study has already been proven in assessing complicated architectural heritage objects, building complexes and sites in search of best optimisation solutions for their transformation.
