The dissertation investigates the newly designed multi-channel cyclone for removal of fine-dispersed particulate matter from aggressive gas.  The main object of research is the researches of a new design with specially treated surfaces upgraded multi-channel cyclone. The primary purpose of this dissertation is
to create a gas (air) purifier capable of removal of fine-dispersed particulate matter

(1–10 μm) from aggressive gas, developing design improvements of multi-channel cyclone, taking into account the results of performed theoretical and experimental research and numerical modelling of the purification process. The thesis approaches several tasks. Task 1 is related to the conduct of theoretical studies to investigate the physical parameters of aggressive gas flow in a multi-channel cyclone. Task 2 and Task 3 are conducted experi­mental studies of aerodynamic parameters of aggressive gas flow, the removal efficiency of particulate matter and evaluation of the adhesion of particulate matter on the cyclone‘s inner surfaces. Task 4 is performed numerical modelling studies, evaluating the influence of aggressive gas flow on two-phase flow para­meters and removal efficiency of fine-dispersed particulate matter from gas. Task 5 is development and testing of pilot newly designed multi-channel cyclone based on its prototype.

The dissertation consists of three parts including an introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and references. The introduction discusses the research problem, the relevance of the thesis, describes the object of the research, formulates the aim and objectives of the thesis, describes the research methodology, scien­tific novelty of the thesis, the practical value of the research findings, defended statements. At the end of the introduction, the publications and reports published by the author on the topic of the dissertation and the structure of the dissertation are presented.

An overview of air pollution caused by fine-dispersed particulate matter, analysis of the application of multi-channel cyclones for cleaning of gas and a characteristic of aggressive gas flow is presented in the 1st chapter.

Chapter 2 presents the theoretical, experimental and modelling research methods of newly designed multi-channel cyclone, aggressive gas flow dynamic para­meters and removal efficiency of fine-dispersed particulate matter. Chapter 3 inves­tigates the the dynamic parameters of the aggressive gas flow in newly designed multi-channel cyclone and the removal efficiency of particulate matter.

17 articles focusing on the subject of the discussed dissertation are published: seven articles – in scientific journals included in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science list, six – in peer-reviewed scientific journals referenced in other databases and four – in conference proceedings. The 1 European patent and the 2 patents of the Republic of Lithuania have been granted. 12 presentations on the subject have been presented in conferences at national and international level.
