Influence of additives intensifying formation of the calcium hidrosilicates on properties of the forming mixtures and products of autoclaved aerated concrete

Autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) with silica microparticles (AS) and of milled carbon fibres (AP) additives intensifying formation of the calcium hydrosilicates is analysed in this study. Autoclaved aerated concrete is a universal building material, characterized by sufficiently good both strength and thermal properties. Natural materials such as lime, quartz sand, Portland cement and water are used for the production of this concrete. Therefore, AAC can be called ecological.

Optimal compositions of forming mixtures and technological parameters of production should be carefully chosen in order to create such lightweight material having enough strength this can not be done without research of whole material and its components. Formation of macro- and microstructure is very important as it results strength properties, when AAC is produced. Seeking to improve mentioned properties AS and AP additives are used.

The dissertation consists of an introduction, three chapters, result analysis, list of the literature and list of author publications on the dissertation topic.

Introductory chapter discusses the research problem, the relevance of research and describes the object of the formulated goal and objectives, describes the research method, scientific novelty, the results of practical significance and hypotheses.

Chapter 1 provides a review of literature of scientific research on autoclaved aerated concrete with additives. Conclusions are drawn and tasks for the dissertation are reconsidered at the end of the chapter.

Chapter 2 describes the materials used for testing, their essential characteristics, test methods and equipment.

Chapter 3 describes AS and AP additives and influence of their quantity on the properties of forming mixtures of AAC. It was established how these additives influence on spreadability, temperature, expansion and plasticity strength of forming mixtures of autoclaved aerated concrete. It was also established how mentioned additives change density, ultrasonic impulse velocity, shrinkage, thermal conductivity, water vapour permeability, compressive and flexural strengths of AAC specimens and analysis of the macro- and microstructures was given in this chapter. The results of strength properties were processed statistically. The production technology of autoclaved aerated concrete with AS and AP was prepared, according to the research results.

4 articles focusing on the subject of the discussed dissertation are published: 3 – in the scientific journal, included in the Thomson ISI register, and one article – in reviewed conference material. Research results on the subject of the discussed dissertation have been presented in 6 scientific conferences.
